  • I'd like to find out more about what is involved in the weekly performance group?

There are 3 different groups that can be signed up to - Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, though all 3 groups work together for collaborative sets also. Beginner: This class is ideal for young people that want to start learning some Scottish Traditional music. If they do not already play an instrument but are keen to be involved, SC&T Youth will provide them with a free penny whistle and give basic tuition on this. Scots Song is taught and participants are encouraged to help arrange sets with the whole group. Intermediate - Participants should be able to play a few tunes on their instrument to join this class. Advanced - Participants should be able to play fluently and competently. There will be a variety of tunes and tune types taught and the young folk will take the lead on the arrangements for their class. For all classes, playing by ear shall be encouraged though music shall be put on Thinkific and will be available. If you have any further questions at all, please don't hesitate to give us an email at youth@scottishculture.org.

The SC&T Youth weekly classes cost £2 per class which total £20 for the term from January to April.
